1. Think about why you want to succeed: Write down the names of all the sick relatives and friends who you could help if you had medical knowledge. Make a picture board of houses you would buy for your family if you had a higher salary. Whatever your reason for changing careers, keep this with you so you do not lose sight of the goal.
One raccoon. That was all it took to change Alexis Shearer's fate. When a young raccoon's mother passed away and there was no rehabilitation center in the county to take him, Ms. Shearer stepped in to help. It was then that she knew helping animals was her passion.
“When he was about ten months old, he got sick, and no vet would see him within three hours of us,” Ms. Shearer recounts. “I ended up saving him when no vet would. He went on to be happy and healthy and is in the wild. He made me want to make a difference and specialize in wildlife.”

I'm Destiny, and my New Year's resolution was to get out of my dead-end job. I wasn't sure how to start. I tried searching for jobs online, but who would hire me when I've only worked fast food and wasn't even a manager? I couldn't decide what field interested me anyway.
“Jada?” I called up my best friend. “What are you doing lately?”
