Welding Instructor Mackey
DATE On June 12, 2020

Would you ever consider becoming a teacher at the school from which you graduated? That's exactly what one of our instructors did. O. L. Mackey—or “Mackey,” as his students call him—is one of Rockford Career College's welding instructors. Mackey teaches all of our welding courses focusing on SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, and pipe welding. Before joining the RCC faculty, he worked for Monroe Truck Equipment as a welder. In total, he has eight years of experience in the field.

As one of the very first graduates of our welding program, Mackey is able to provide a student's and teacher's perspective to his classrooms. Two of his greatest passions are welding and helping his students achieve success, and his dedication shines through his lessons. Whether he is teaching or coaching youth basketball, Mackey is always searching for ways to mentor and motivate others.

If you are nervous about starting a welding program, remember that Mackey has been through it all before, too. Who knows? Maybe one day you'll be inspired to pass along what you have learned, too.

At Rockford Career College, we hire passionate instructors like Mackey.  Whether you take classes with Mackey or one of our other instructors, our students say one reason they chose Rockford Career College is because of our caring, passionate instructors.
