Graduate Highlight - Catherine Teleso

“Stay positive.” Catherine Teleso's advice may sound simple, but sometimes it is difficult to see past the problems of today. However, it was this motto that helped her progress through her coursework when life became challenging.

Ms. Teleso enrolled in Rockford Career College's veterinary technician program, ready to share her enthusiasm with animals and pet owners alike. She found the RCC instructors to be encouraging, so much so that she could not pick a favorite. “All of them are amazing,” Ms. Teleso says. Thanks to their assistance and her own determination, Ms. Teleso was able to complete her classes—such as Microbiology, Animal Clinical Procedures, and Principles of Surgery—as well as an externship at  Brookside Veterinary Clinic.

However, that does not mean there were no difficulties along the way. “I did go six months without a car,” she recalls. Still, she would not allow transportation issues to stand in the way of reaching her dream. “I still managed to show up every day on time,” she says proudly. Ms. Teleso graduated from the program in March of 2019.
