Why Become a Veterinary Technician?
DATE On November 29, 2017

Meet Bronson.

When one veterinary technician helped deliver nine chocolate Labrador puppies, she discovered one had a cleft palate. Ultimately, the owners decided to euthanize the puppy. This vet tech, however, had a different idea.

The owners gave her the Labrador to raise herself. Many doctors told the vet tech that the dog would not survive his first few weeks. She was determined to prove them wrong. For months, she tube-fed young Bronson every one to two hours. Unable to leave him unsupervised, the vet tech brought him along to work and anywhere else she went. Despite her best efforts, she occasionally had to sedate the rambunctious pup to remove small food and items that stuck in his cleft palate.

After a year of this arduous routine, Bronson was old enough for surgery. Although it was risky, the veterinarian took the chance and fixed her friend's cleft palate. Thanks to this vet tech's perseverance, knowledge, and love, Bronson was able to finally enjoy a tube-free life. 1
