We Proudly Present Paralegal AAS Graduate Holden Webb
“Working hard is important. But there is something that matters even more: believing in yourself.” This quote from J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series kept Holden Webb going even when his career path felt challenging.1 By believing in his abilities and the good he could do for others as a paralegal, Holden completed both our diploma and Associate of Applied Science degree programs. We are extremely proud of him for graduating with his associate degree and beginning a new career serving others.
What You Learn in a Paralegal Studies Associate Degree Program
For each graduate of a program, we highlight three different courses. During the paralegal studies associate degree program, Holden took courses such as: Advanced Legal Research and Writing, Criminal Law, and Digital Communication Strategies.
In these courses, he learned about:
- Utilizing traditional library and Internet resources to perform factual and legal research as well as prepare legal documents such as case briefs, legal office memoranda, and motions
- The rules and principles that underlie and govern criminal law and procedure
- The appropriate formats, styles, and protocols for communicating through various electronic media, including email, fax, social media, and file uploads/downloads; the use of digital communications in various business applications, including marketing, promotion, fundraising, and other processes; and the legal, ethical, privacy, and security implications associated with all forms of electronic communication
In addition to paralegal-specific courses, Holden completed general education requirements such as History of American Government and Written Communications to round out his Associate of Applied Science degree.
