We Proudly Present Medical Assistant Graduate Leydi Salgado
DATE On September 02, 2021

“It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop.” These words from Confucius inspired Leydi Salgado to keep progressing on her chosen career path despite the challenges.1 At Rockford Career College, Leydi put her all into studying and developing her practical skills. Her hard work paid off when she graduated on our Dean's List. All of us at RCC are proud of Leydi for overcoming the obstacles and becoming a medical assistant.

What You Learn in a Medical Assistant Program

For each graduate of a program, we highlight three different courses. During the program, Leydi took courses such as: Professional Success Strategies, Medical Terminology and Systems, and Medical Billing Fundamentals.

In these courses, she learned about:

  • Portraying professionalism in behavior, presentation, dress, and work ethic, as well as the professional standards of the industry
  • Medical terminology required to function successfully in a professional medical office
  • The insurance and billing processes with emphasis on major insurance companies, claim submission, reimbursement practices, bookkeeping procedures, and coding systems used in healthcare

How Our Graduate Became a Medical Assistant

Like Leydi, you too could become a medical assistant in just a matter of months and start your career journey in this interesting and necessary profession. As a student, you will have the opportunity to gain real-world experience before graduating by completing a 170-hour externship with 160 hours in a clinical setting. From completing the enrollment process to connecting with local employers, we will be here to assist you on your career journey. The College also offers financial aid to those who qualify.
