We Proudly Present Medical Assistant Graduate Brook Kalen
DATE On August 09, 2021

“Take pride in how far you have come and have faith in how far you can go.” This quote from Christian Larson inspired Brook Kalen to pursue a new career as a medical assistant.1 We are extremely proud of her for graduating from our medical assistant program. Now, Brook can continue to be proud of herself as she helps patients every day in her new career.

What You Learn in a Medical Assistant Program

For each graduate of a program, we highlight three different courses. During the program, Brook took courses such as: Medical Terminology and Systems, Specimen Collection and Analysis, and Regulatory Issues in Health Information.

In these courses, she learned about:

  • Medical terminology required to function successfully in a professional medical office
  • The proper handling, collecting, transportation, and testing of various types of specimens
  • The delivery of healthcare services; documentation of care; rights and responsibilities of providers, employees, payers, and patients in a healthcare context; and legal terminology pertaining to civil liability and the judicial and legislative processes

Additionally, Brook developed her practical skills during her 170-hour externship with 160 hours in a clinical setting.
