We Proudly Present Medical Assistant Graduate Amber Swick
DATE On January 11, 2022

“What feels like the end is often the beginning.” This anonymous quote reminded Amber Swick that graduating from Rockford Career College was not the final step, but the first one in her new career path. We are extremely proud of her for graduating from our medical assistant program and starting a career doing what she loves.

What You Learn in a Medical Assistant Program

For each graduate of a program, we highlight three different courses. During the program, Amber took courses such as: General Anatomy & Physiology, Pharmacology and Pathology, and Medical Billing Fundamentals.

In these courses, she learned about:

  • Basic chemistry; cells and tissues; and the integumentary, skeletal, muscular, neurological, genitourinary, reproductive, and digestive systems
  • Drug classification, dosage calculation, routes and methods of drug administration, prescription management, and abbreviations used in pharmacology
  • Insurance and billing processes with emphasis placed on major insurance companies, claim submission, reimbursement practices, coding systems, and bookkeeping procedures

How Our Graduate Became a Medical Assistant

Like Amber, you too could become a medical assistant in just a matter of months and start your career journey in this interesting and necessary profession. As a student, you will have the opportunity to develop your skills before graduation by completing a 170-hour externship with 160 hours in a healthcare setting. We will assist you with completing the enrollment process, connecting with local employers, and much more as you progress on your career journey. Additionally, we offer financial aid to those who qualify.
