Graduate Highlight - Steven Lowe

Did you know that America has an electrician shortage? In fact, the Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts that there will be 85,900 open jobs in the electrician field by 2024¹. The 2017 annual mean wage of electricians in Illinois was $61,010 to $81,600.²  Although our reliance on electronics— including HVAC systems for our homes and businesses—increases, fewer students are choosing this field for their future careers. Steven Lowe, a recent Rockford Career College graduate, decided to go against that trend.
 
“I chose the electrical technician program because of the diversity of fields you can go into,” says Mr. Lowe. “I am currently a full-time employee at a local heating and air conditioning company at Popular Grove. I love my job. I could not have gotten that job, I feel, if it wasn’t for my education here at RCC.”
