Graduate Highlight - Ronaldo Gonzalez
DATE On February 15, 2019

You may not notice it as you go about your day, but metal is one of the key components to our society. It comprises everything from the cars we drive to the heating systems in our homes to the appliances we use to cook food. Steel, iron, and other metals make our way of life possible. This makes welding an invaluable skill, and Ronaldo Gonzalez took the chance to learn it.

“Welders can fix and manipulate any piece of steel or anything!” says Mr. Gonzalez. He was inspired by his friends and cousins to pursue a career in welding. Plus, he adds, “I just like to get dirty and work with my hands.” Mr. Gonzalez graduated from Rockford Career College's welding program in January of 2019 and looks forward to applying what he has learned to his new career.

Why should you consider becoming a welder like Mr. Gonzalez? Well, welders are currently in high demand. Besides the need increasing every year due to the prevalence of metal, there is a workforce shortage caused by both many welders retiring and few coming in to replace them. The American Welding Society predicts that by 2024, 400,000 welders will be needed1. A welding career could be very rewarding, and we are here to help you find all that the field has to offer.

We hope Mr. Gonzalez's story inspired you. Whether you are interested in the welding program or one of the many other programs offered at Rockford Career College, please come in and talk to us today to find your career passion.
