While it is common for children to set future career goals, few adults can say they actually turned their dreams into realities. Monica is a Certified Surgical Technologist and Surgical Technology Program Chair, is one of those determined few. Here is her story:

I became a surgical technologist because of the book The Value of Sharing: The Story of the Mayo Brothers. This was my favorite book as a child. It told great tales about William and Charles Mayo and their life-saving efforts to help people in their hometown. I knew from a very young age that I would work in surgery and, eventually, at The Mayo Clinic.
